Abstract
Posidonia oceanica meadows are very sensitive and important marine environments; they are protected and monitored under several European regulations. In this context, the residual, already compromised, seagrass bed in Cala San Giacomo (Molfetta, Italy) was monitored for three years (2020-2022) to assess potential impact of the redevelopment of the nearby port. Different approaches were utilised to determine the health status of such meadow. The results obtained for the Conservation Index showed the worsening conditions of P. oceanica in the study area; nonetheless, it is important to keep on monitoring such compromised meadow, especially applying non-invasive approaches, such as the Conservation Index.
